Why it matters to you
Strategic Event Risk Management & Professional Security Services
We identify and mitigate alcohol-related and conflict-driven liabilities before they escalate — implementing proactive risk controls and continuous incident management to safeguard your organization and ensure a positive guest experience.
The security industry is based upon the ability to analyze, strategize and optimize risk management operations. The industry has an additional key-element of interhuman exchanges and understandings, to that end.
Corvus is therefore founded on the concept that potential should meet preparation: that personable, talented, hard working, hand-picked security agents should be properly educated about their field and better supported by their employer for the higher standard of service they deliver to our clientele.
Be it for: special events, work places, residential properties, bodyguarding/ close protection services, Corvus is built to raise the standard of risk management and security guard services in the Ottawa and surrounding Ontario areas.

- Bag checks and searches: further setting and maintaining an impression of professionalism and mutual dignity for all. Bag checks If deemed necessary after consulting with our client: bag checks very effectively provide liability and harm reduction to clients and attendees from contraband such as alcohol, drugs, weapons, apparatus that could constitute a weapon. Most commonly this effectively controls innocent, yet unwanted on premises items such as outside food and drink, for client-business purposes. Bag checks are conducted by asking attendees to place their bag or purse on a table as security agents use a flashlight to move items in the bag, or instruct the owner of the bag to remove or show certain items for a clear, hands-off inspection. Body-searches If deemed necessary after consulting with our client: also nicknamed as 'pat-downs', Corvus agents are trained to conduct body-searches in a thorough manner that is effective and respectful of the attendees dignity throughout the process. The process begins with the agent leading the ingress security procedures, verbally preparing the line(s) of attendees that they will be searched upon entry, and to remove objects from their pockets. This permits for individuals who do not consent to being search to opt-out of entering the premises and to allow for guards to search at a faster rate which speeds up ingress time. The standardized technique employed by our agents starts with respectful, clear communication and patience in obtaining acknowledgement/ consent from the individual. Once consent is obtained, the security agent will instruct verbatim for the attendee to stand with their feet at shoulder width apart and their arms laterally raised. The agent will stand at an angle to the front of the individual to both maintain strategic whilst providing the person being searched with the comfort of being able to see the agent as they conduct the search. The search itself is conducted using a wand, or the backs and blades of the security agents hands for minimal contact, from the top-down, asking the individual to remove and open their hat for inspection, following with quick "scan" of the shirt collar/ hood, then a sweep the shoulders over and under the arms, then sides of and and back of the person are swept, following down to a scan of the belt-line, emphasizing the blades of the hand throughout the process, the search is finalized with a sweep of the lateral and medial pant-legs. Corvus generally emphasizes the employment and deployment of female agents which particularly communicates intent of respect during searches with female patrons. We aim to to set and maintain an impression of professionalism and mutual dignity for all.
- Capacity tracking: The simple yet active task of accurately logging attendee ins-and-outs: - Allows for a live count of the total occupation of the premises. - Keeps the venue/ client within liability margin of occupancy limits and fire-code regulations, preventing heavy fines or business shutdowns or lawsuits. - Provides a comparative number for the expectation of persons-out to relay to emergency services in the event of an evacuation. - Provides the client with data for future business purposes.
- ID & credential verification. Setting a tone of professional oversight and safety for all. As of the first interaction at the entrance of a premises, the fundamental security measure of conducting ID checks sets the tone that the premises/ event are professionally monitored, which provides a strong deterrent to criminals or would-be troublemakers. In application this ensures only legitimate ticket holders and attendees enter the clients premises. ID checks accordingly provide for age requirement compliance, which protects potential underage attendees from harm, and further protects the client from liquor license violation related liabilities, legal and financial consequences such as heavy fines or suspensions. In many cases professional ID checks are an insurance requirement as condition for coverage for high-capacity and higher-risk gatherings, particularly when and where alcohol is served. Corvus agents are Ontario Smart-Serve Certified . Credential checks: Be it for special events or private properties, credential checks ensure respective premises are only accessed by the intended, respective individuals, such as verifying contractors or VIP's. This likewise prevents access to unauthorized, off-limits areas and allows for security to provide a 'who's-in' report to the client.
- Alcohol+ liability management. Ensuring patron enjoyment and client-business remains safe. Liabilities under the Liquor License and Control Act. 2019 include severe penalties for corporate licensees such as fines exceeding $100,000+ and license revocations. Our team is there to ensure alcohol is sold, served and consumed responsibly by our Smart Serve certified and industry experienced guards. https://smartserve.ca/online-training/ Our team is here to observe, communicate, to ensure customers enter the premises with verified age of majority and signs of sobriety, to have fun and depart safely in a taxi or with a designated driver if necessary.
Conflict & dispute management, a discerning, legal, de-escalatory methodology to bring predictability and navigation to capricious scenarios Conflict vs disputes Generally speaking, conflict begins with an incompatibility of interests between one or more entities. Conflict only therefore inevitable between persons. Conflict can exist legally without being spoken or becoming a matter of liability; ex: Two individuals bump into each other while walking, they seem irritated but carry on in their respective paths without apologizing nor arguing. This is where our security agents have seen the conflict, are ready to stand down if civility is maintained OR intervene and de-escalate if it evolves into a dispute. Disputes Conflict only becomes a dispute when one party names a perceived harm ex: "You bumped me on purpose!" "What is your problem! " If the escalation is verbal upon our intervention, our agent(s) approach to mediate the dispute ex: " hey, it was an accident, please resolve this together so that you may both remain on premises " 1. Make the blame neutral. "It was an accident " 2. Offer an 'out'. "Please take the time to apologize to one another" 3. Provide a third-party consequence. " If you remain or become more hostile you will both be asked to leave the premises "(trespassed by security) Corvus security agents are familiarized with the Trespass To Properties Act of Ontario https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90t21 And it's actionable proportions. Our finesse with discernment allows us to bring predictability and liability-reducing, hands-off control techniques to otherwise capricious, potentially volatile scenarios - so that 'the show may go on' smoothly !

I used Corvus Security for a last minute escort/protection detail with only a days notice. I found their services to be excellent. Despite it being last minute they provided a comprehensive ops plan & briefing document for their team based on data I provided and that they collected.
Post-detail, they provided a detailed report of activity. The team showed a high level of professionalism with my clients. I would use Corvus Security again and would recommend them.
